Got the skin up as you can see. Doesn't look too bad, I suppose. What do you reckon?
In case you haven't noticed, the RSS Feed is up as well. Thanks Jachin for the code, I will be sharing it soon.
The
design reveals the true purpose for this site. Essentially it is a
blog, but if you look at the text under the logo in the header, it's a
blog about blogs, blogging and blogging for the sake of it.
Why Blog?
When
I first started surfing the net more then 10 years ago, it was fun. The
experience was completely different in that what I wanted to see, read,
and view was completely up to me. It was nothing like watching TV,
movies or listening to the news. This medium had put me in control of
what I wanted to consume from media. Of course the other aspect that
was fascinating to me were the aesthetics of the site's I visited.
Appreciation of them was initially entirely unobjective but it had
inspired me to give it a shot, i.e. create a few pages of mine. Being
at uni, and having loads of time, I quickly took up on designing a few
pages for myself. Experimentally of course. I think one of those
sites, is still somewhere out there. I'll see if I can find it.
Surfing
the net had become one of my primary hobbies, until I took up web
applications development a few years ago. In the last couple of years,
web had become boring. I stopped visiting most of my regular sites, and
stopped surfing sites for the purposes of appreciating the style and
creativity of it. I visited only a handful of sites primarily for
purposes of work.
In the last few months, I've had a renewed
interest in the web. Primarily the interest lies in the blog sites out
there. So much so, that I spend about 60% of my surfing time reading
and jumping from blog to blog. There are some (such as Autoblog) I read
on a regular basis, but it's amazing how much interesting information
is being amassed into myriads of good blogs out there.
What I
really like about blogs, is the apparent random content base. A lot of
them do have themes but within the blogs, the posts are entirely
dependent on the what the author feels like writing. You never know
what the content is going to be. It isn't always something you maybe
interested in and that's what leads me to blog jumping. Because not all
entries in all blogs are interesting, I jump from blog to blog reading
what I find interesting and in doing that, I have somewhat of
satisfactory surfing experience by the end of it. Blog jumping isn't a
new thing, as I am making it sound, but it is a lot of fun.
So what can be expected?
Over the coming days, I will be blogging about other people's blogs, blogging about blogging and blogging for the sake of it.
That's enough for today... Off to do some surfing.
