Facebook

I've heard and read about Facebook, but had completely forgotten that I had created a profile on it. Today I had an email from facebook informing me that someone wanted to add me as a friend. I obliged and added this person as my friend. Ofcourse, I have no idea who he is, but hey, if he wants to be my friend I don't mind.

In any case, I proceeded to explore facebook and some it's features. Most of them don't make sense at all and it appears to be a geeks idea of having fun online. Some of them seemed to be their because some smart web programmer created them. They seem to lack value, but I must be wrong, because from all that I read, facebook seems to be a very successful site.

In my exploration I updated my profile and added a picture of a simpsonised me. There was a section allowing to upload some pictures, but it's Java based implementation failed on me, so I proceeded to add my Flickr photo gallery. I wouldn't have uploaded any pictures on facebook gallery itself even if the Java implementation had successfully fired, and I wondered why a lot of these sites continue to develop their own galleries. I have already adopted Flickr, I am not going to waste my time uploading more pictures on another site.

Anyway, give facebook a try. It's an interesting way to waste time. You never know, you may get something of value out of it.
